So I got the shed frame up earlier today used 50x50x3 box section. Here's a pic hope you guys approve I will upload some more tomorrow when I have light of the the complete frame

Theres 2 ways of looking at it. Its either going to be very windy and wet or its got massive amounts of ventilation and low fire risk

I prefer the open aspect myself. I always like the view and less chance 'er indoors can sneak up on me talking to myself ;-)

What cladding are you planning to use?

There's going to be LOADS of space in there for 'stuff'.

Have you got as far as working out the machinery floor plan so that work 'flows'?

Looks good but I would be concerned if you ended up with a metre of snow on the roof at that width and using 50x50x3 box.

50x50x3 box section sounds rather flimsy for a shed of that size. I hope snow load and wind load for your location have been taken into account.

There are very useful tables showing recommended minimum steel sizes for stanchions, rafters, etc, in guidance that you can download for free from the website of Dept of Agriculture and Food in the Republic. They might not be exactly the same as a structural engineer would specify on your side of the border, but are likely to be very similar.

The compressive strength is probably adequate but for resistance to wracking may need additional bracing.

Going to use non drip box profile on the roof .7 thickness juniper green with a few skylights on the sides and black flashings

I haven't decided in layout yet but I was thinking chop saw in line with side door beside the roller door for ease of use then a rack above the rollers beside the saw. Bench will be on the left running along the side a few meters along with the pillar drill

I really want to make a fixture bench but there is no point thinking about until I have basic set up at least

As for the structure I'm pretty sure it will be sound once all the cladding is put on. As penfold stated the compressive strength is probably adequate

Edit: also junitper green cladding on the sides also .7 only different is they are non drip and I will be painting the doors black it will look pretty good

A blow heater will do well I'm not really worried about the cold once you get a good flow going you don't really think about it

I have to say I have my doubts about the structure, things like this need more thought than " coz I av sum"
Heating is for puffs or people who need to get a wiggle on lol

I did ask around before buying the material and have spoken to guys who work with structural stuff who have apparently seen bigger put up with not 50x50 but 40x40 I don't know if there is much truth in their words but if needs be I will add bracing when the cladding goes on. I have faith

These things are generally made to book drawings with structural calcs ready done

The cladding is bound to take wind load

Most are a lot heavier duty that I have seen and worked on

Looks good, but I would now put some diagonal ties across the wall areas. Could be wire cables or thin tube e.t.c.. I would have definatly have made the trusses with diagonal W's in them too.
