Good job on the stool and lovely wooden top.We decided against butt-moulding in the end, and just went with rounding off the edges.

You're welcome, my friend. I did, after all, introduce the concept of butt-moulding so I can't really complain...Sorry Skoti,
Your thread has been well and truly hijacked !!
Oooookaaaaaaaaaayyyy... I see where you're going with that. I'm having similar thoughts myself, but the imagination is being targeted on the new welding trolley.Back on thread, had an idea today from all this brain storming and using the cross propagation of ideas to improve my welding stool. No wood involved but storage under the seat for consumables in the form of A4 size drawers that slide out under your chuds containing all manner of welding plethora.
That's made about 6 miles away from me, nice but I will let you in on a secret, the best scrumpy (having grown up on the stuff and sampled at least 20 makers produce in the local area) is Heck's Port Wine scrumpy, Heck's have exclusive access to the cider apple tree's at Glastonbury Abbey and they then ferment the cider in old port wine casks.
Live in Queensferry now. Edinburgh's almost a dim and distant memory, being a whole 12 minute train ride away.
