Workshop Maintenance

Morning, and happy new year to all.
I have a 2500sqft fabrication shop here in Swindon, with the
usual mix of fabrication equipment.
MIG sets, bandsaw, ironworker, Pollard 4 spindle pillar drill etc...
Can anyone suggest / recommend someone to service our equipment.
I am being pressured into getting everything certificated, not that
there's anything wrong with any of it.

1st step would be to get user manuals for all items.
Then, you could arrange your own servicing. It's really not that hard.
Write some procedures along the lines of the manual service reccomendations, and some safety checks (interlocks, guards etc) and some basic visual checks on wiring.
Get someone to carry out all this servicing, either yourself or one of your co-workers, and keep a record of what was done when by who.

You then have a traceable record of mechanical maintenance.
Get someone to PAT test all portable appliances - this is easy for any certified electrician.

Done!

Where extra guarding etc comes in is in your risk assessments for each item. Very hard to risk assess a pillar drill without spindle guards, for example.

pressured by whom exactly? is it a commercial set up? If so. This should have been done already as a condition of insurance. If you have people working for you, you are putting them at risk.
