Workshop Dehumidifiier

Morning,

I recently bought this dehumidifier from Screwfix: https://www.screwfix.com/p/blyss-wdh-316db-16ltr-dehumidifier/368gy it did a good job in the office/kitchen area but is too small for the main workshop and office/kitchen. I noticed the office felt dryer and warmer after running the dehumidifier in there alone. The workshop is about 80% at the moment and got down to about 75% after running for about 5 days. It's cold and damp here at the moment and the bottom half of half the walls are stone exposed to the elements. I don't think there is a damp problem but I do have a couple of classic cars, parts, tools etc so thought keeping the place dryer would be good. Is there a bigger unit I could use or am I wasting my time? Couple of pics of the new workshop area when being built for a idea of size.

What’s the temp like in the workshop?

Think it was about 7c the other day before I put the heating on. It’s not heated when I’m not there.

I run a Ruby dry on lowest setting in a 60 sq meter workshop no heating but it is insulated and has a ceiling insulated as well these are the readings

What do you mean by too small? Is the tank filling too fast?

Is it humidity or condensation. Air flow will help if it’s condensation try running a fan at one end. I am no expert but it helped at my last place.

I'm guessing when you start heating the moisture in the air begins to condense on the colder surfaces - is that predominantly the walls?

I have a hose connected. The spec of the dehumidifier is only 30 to 35m3. The ceiling is 2.6m high so from the spec then it's good for a 13.4m2 area.

Only on the tiles in the toilet, no where else.

Humidity, no issue with condensation. The workshop is insulated apart from the lower stone wall areas.

Its just to work harder, at first it will be running constantly until it reaches the moisture level you have set it at. The one in my store is set to keep ontop of the damp but no more otherwise its trying to dry the world out

Never checked but didn’t notice any increase in the elec bill when it’s running

Set at 60% and still going after 10 days so was wondering if a larger one in the workshop would get down to spec faster and just use the one I have in the office area. The workshop is pretty well sealed

Havent aclue what mine is set at. Once its on top of the moisture it will calm down

About 7c when I arrived on the weekend.

How well is the workshop sealed up? i have a very old challenger make about 20 litres and needs emptying about every 4 to 5 days regardless of outside conditions

Pretty good, no drafts I've noticed.
