Started a new job this week: 99% stainless work.
got pulled up on day 2 becahse “some of your welds yesterday weren’t up to our standards” - felt this was somewhat unfair given i was piecing in two stupid little coupons about 1/3 the size of a 5p piece - hard to control the heat, etc.
was also very forthcoming about my (very) limited experience with stainless TIG (3-4000 hours on aluminium, maybe 30-40 on stainless).
told the fella who’s “training me up” who then burst out laughing. ‘Let’s go have a look at the last one of these that passed QC without issue..’
Whereas my work has been of this standard:
Can’t say I’m impressed by the existing quality (or the comments from the foreman... must be one of those “need to keep myself in a job by looking busy” types...
