Do we need to start a Lampaholics thread???
I'm always attracted to shiny things, maybe I was a moth in a previous life.
I've got one in the link below, had it about 4 weeks, great bit of kit. There's a cheaper one too with smaller lamp body but lower light output

Hmm, tempted, but I know some led lights flicker, ever seen the slow-mo shots on Topgear where the car's lights flash on and off ? that's because a lot of LED drivers use PWM which is basically switching them on and off very quickly.Never noticed any flicker, just don't stare at them as they're very bright!

What bulb units do you use to do this? got a link?i have halogen worklights and replaced the 500W bulbd with LED units for £8 a pop. worked great ever since. so there is no need to cuck out old flood lamps.

I just swapped the 500w halogen worklight which floodlights the interior of the barn for a 100w led unit, and I'm really impressed with it. The 500w incandescents dont last that long for me. But the led flood housing is completely different to heatsink the led unit with more finning etc.
I'd like to find a 8 quid replacement led module to use in other places without having the whole mess of having to change the entire unit and bracketry...
As for working on vehicles with a portable worklight, I have a old swivel chair base, with a concrete ring out of a parasol stand weighting it, welded to a scaffold tube with a old halogen uplighter arranged so it can be shone onto the work and I can wheel it round. It sounds wacky but its incredibly useful and its cost me nothing so far, although I was thinking of swapping it to led for less heat.
I use one of these. It works very well and has a a few magnets and hangers on it for fixing to bulkheads, etc. It's very bright too and it has a lithium ion battery inside to power it. Mine was black, not the turquoise coloured one but they are exactly the same. It has a torch beam or flood setting on and you just cycle the switch between off/torch/wide beam flood.
I've 3 black ones and I wish I'd got a brighter colour so they are easier to see, the black ones are far too easy to leave stuck under a vehicle especially if it goes flat on you and you get distracted. Is one staying stuck under a vehicle in use for 9 months a record ?I was working under the landy one day changing a slave cylinder and forgot about it, drove about for over a week before I realised it was still stuck to the chassis. Testament to the strength of the magnets. Mine was also black, not sure I'd want that purple one in the link.
