Some help needed here! It's my first attempt at milling steel.....
I have a lathe / mill combi machine that I'm trying to mill on but can't get the work high enough.
I've put it in a chuck in the tail stock and it works but I can't easily measure it so I can take off an equal amount each side, it's a piece of 22mm bar I'm making into a mounting lug.
The problem is the table is a long way below the travel on the mills quill and collet holder.
I think I need a "machinist's block" about 5" tall???
I also need something to hold the bar or tube in that I can bolt to the block.
Hope this is making sense.
I'll get a picture of what I'm trying to make and the machine later.
Help!
