Has anyone kicked themselves over not accepting a change in money on a work contract?

It sounds silly really, I mean why would you not accept the extra pay.
7 years ago I was offered an extra £2500 on my basic money, but I opted out on the strength of keeping my better overtime rate.
And basically 2 years after this happened the company put the overtime rate back up again aswell.
Now still in the same job for the same company I realise I am about roughly £5000 a year down on everyone else doing the same job, but for less money.

It's easy to look at it in hindsight, but it's peeing me off as I can't get it out of my head. And I only realised it about 2 years ago.

I can't believe it took me that long to realise my mistake.
I've now worked for the same company for coming on to 13 years.

All employment contracts can be reviewed and should be, it works both ways.

About time you sat down with your department/boss and had a discussion, are they going to let you go after 13 years?

If you have been there 13+ years they know what they have and should look at the discussion favorably, they have also saved a fair amount, ask if they can meet you 1/2 way in backdating pay.
Reading the grumbles on the site, news papers and what I see, a reliable known employee is worth top wack.
Been there a couple of times with employees, you want to keep good people, if you are good there is usually some one looking for you

Tbh they just look at it as business. It wouldn't bother them in the slightest if I were to leave. We've had people leave that have been there 15 even 20 years an they don't bat an eye.
I have 1 part of my contract that they don't like, I have too much holiday allowance. My contract is 4 on 3 off officially. But I always do 1 day overtime every week.
Officially only working 4 days a week I'm only suppose to have about 22 days holiday, but I have 28 days. My HR woman hates that, but as I have it in writing so there's nothing she can do about it. She would undoubtly ask me to make a concession and loose some of that in the process.

The problem is I'm settled, happy and stuck in my ways, well apart from the money part that's been niggling me since I realised my mistake about a year or 2 ago. It sounds odd but I work permanent weekends Friday to Monday, with Tuesday as overtime. It suits my life-style now as I've been working that for about 14 years now. I started that for the last company I worked for and these took me on, on the strength of doing the same.

As you have just said. Businesses will throw you out of the door as easy as you like. You could be the most reliable person in the world. One manager doesn't like you. Your out. A HR manager at the last place I worked at told the workplace forum. (nothing of the sort, it was all one sided) 'If you want loyalty, buy a dog'

They don't pay sick pay and I'd been there about 3 years when I had an accident. I had 5 weeks off sick. I basically had to go where theres a blame there's a claim.
All I got back in the end, after 5years of messing about was my wages. If they'd just paid me that in the 1st place I wouldn't have bothered claiming anyway.

I had been at a previous employer for 15 years. I realised a couple of my staff earned a few grand more than me.
I approached the MD regarding a raise. He said no, then around three months later he made me redundant.
Another three months passed and he sent a manger around to offer me my job back at the upper rate.
I told him I had moved on and was already on more money.
Sometimes karma is sweet from a certain point of view!

I thought all employers have to pay SSP once you have been with the company for a given time, especially those under contract and not self employed within a company?
