Back in the 60s there was a vet in Stroud like that, used to drive one of those old Daimler’s with a pre selector box. He was about 5 foot tall & couldn’t see over the steering wheel & never went anywhere at more than 10 miles an hour. You used to see him driving along with a line of cars behind like a funeral procession. When I left school I worked in a garage for a few months & he used to come in with this Daimler, it was donkeys years old then, you had to take care as there were syringes left everywhere.There was an old lady in the next village, that needed 3 cushions on the seat so she could reach the pedals and see over the dash. All you saw as her massive merc came trundling towards you were a pair of hands on the wheel.

This old girl was called Dot Walker her husband owned the local garage, she was tiny certainly less than 5ft. You kept your eye out for the local vet. He’d usually drunk a bottle of whiskey by 10am

That's spooky! While clearing the trailer on Tuesday to look for the Ranger compressor capacitor value, I found just that. I can't wait for one of those American salvage hunter guys to drop by and buy. (I've got 17 brooms too, WHY?)
I ran the garage for a local transport company , we had two drivers of interest . ,,, these are 111 Scania , and F10 volvo artics we are talking about here , the odd Renault too .
but the two drivers in question .. one was so short , some where about 4ft 11 or less that we had blocks of wood screwed to the pedals so he could reach them ,,,
the other driver was a normal size guy so all good there , but ,,, he only had one arm , and no prosthetic , and it was his left arm missing ,, so he drove with only his right arm ,,,, ill remind some of the new guys these things had a fairly rev picky manual gear box , both guys had driven for a life time with not a scratch on their trucks.
Its amazing what folk can work round.

Next time I have some teenager tailgating me, whilst squinting under the top of his steering wheel, I'll wish I had one of these installed. Doubt they work on a diesel, so propane bottle it would have to be.
ps. Why does the chav of today remove their car seats and sit on the floor? I'm assuming this what they do as there is no other way they could get themselves so ridiculously low?
I saw a girl drive past me a couple of days ago, chavmobile, pop and bang tune, definitely viewing the world from underneath the top of her steering wheel.
They don’t quite remove the seat, they recline them. My son had his Fiesta seat like this. It’s a stupid driving position

Wife of a school friend of mine. She was under 5 feet tall.
Drove a Morris 1000 her father had bought for her. As well as adding spacers to the seat runners he had added wooden blocks to all three pedals as our Dads used to do to our first full sized bicycle we 'would grow into'.
Even so she seemed to view the world through the gap between the top of the dashboard and the steering wheel and was near invisible from behind.
Didn't have Esso tiger tails on the aerial, bullet holes in the windows, rubber fingers for door protectors, static earthing chains, clip on window trays or even an 8 track so this is well off topic!

it’s from America, gangsters did it out there to stop them being shot at. If you can’t see them you don’t know who’s in the car
as for flames my cosworth used to spit 4foot ones but it did have 520bhp over 15 years ago now
They would be the old imperial horses ,, when I look at some of the jap cars quoted HP , I think metric horses must be smaller .....
