Hi, I need some help I have a Worcester 20/25 oil fired boiler in my bungalow.
Lately I have been smelling combustion fumes.
I called in the local boiler specialist and he serviced it, told me as far as he could see it was working correctly. He suggested one possible fault might be a leaking valve in the oil pump body, letting a dribble of fuel into the burner after shutdown.
After he left I could still smell the fumes.
I called him back and he fitted a new pump and valve.
I can still smell the fumes, I have examined the burner and feed for leaks of oil and can see nothing wrong.
It seems to smell worse after it shuts down, as if remaining fumes in the boiler body are escaping. It is vented out of the wall directly behind the boiler with a specified fitting it has plates that direct the gasses down.
I have tried giving it an extra purge by waiting until it switches off and then switching the power off and back on forcing it to purge again.
It still smells, the specialist is baffled, it has cost a small fortune so far any advice gratefully received.
Hopefully Kels.
