I'm not proud, I'll work with any material : does anyone know of a good UK woodworking forum? Thanks
Maybe it's too early, but that's lost on me.
Life of Brian - he was part of the Peoples Front of Judea and went off and created his own group.Maybe it's too early, but that's lost on me.
It's a paying job
Thanks, I'll give it a go.Ukworkshop is ok, can be a bit like tickling a corpse at times but there are some good joiners and cabinet makers on it, and a few pedants.
I think there would be a lot of activity if there was a sub-section (even a multi-materials area etc) on this forum. As @gaz1 says there are posts / interests already but it just goes in the general forums. Lots of very skilled woodworkers on here. Investigated ‘TheWoodHaven’ a while ago but had more useful responses on here from @eLuSiVeMiTe et al, and I already know they’re of the same mindset, ie., oil and swarf are as welcome as wood shavings. A lot of suggestions / techniques are out of the box from folks on here, eg. a ‘woodworking’ forum would probably be unlikely to see steel welded kitchen cabinet frames like we saw on here recently (sorry, memory not good enough to credit member), better built than traditional cabinetry...
as a home gamer im 50/50 woodwork vs metal work. Ive made a lot of things for the home including furniture items with steel welded frames and wood. This forum is without doubt the most responsive and enthusiastic to these types of projects. A multi Materials section would be quite popular i think. Some of the wood forums i have tried have been very "purist" in their support and response. The FOG (festool owners group) are a pretty good bunch with some stunning workmanship from some members but obviously very focused on the brand.
Only one I know of https://thewoodwhispererguild.com/ by Marc Spagnuolo, it isn't a traditional forum though.

I also swing both ways and I've previously asked for a sub-section for woodworking on this forum but it has been declined.
