Never understood chisel snobbery
Flatten the back well get a good bevel and micro bevel and one chisel cuts as well as another.
Some are better steel than others.
Some hold an edge better than others.
As long as it does the job in front of you and there within you budget.
I'm happy to keep buying Irwin's.
Out of the box the backs are flat and they are well ground
They hold an edge and I can beat 7 shades out of it with a claw hammer
I could spend 5 times as much on a set of chisels with nice wooden handles and leave them in the shed looking nice for fine work or I could buy a tool I can use and abuse and replace as required.
