We don't spend all day hiding in nice warm workshops with all out tools to hand so you use the hammer on your belt

Get a softer tap side on. Sometimes due to lack of clearance for the hammer too.

No mate, titanium hammer for me but i was a mincer cabinet maker

Angle grinder with flap disk, or a router cutters, will do everything, better and quicker Life is too short to mess about with chisels, finish never as good.

My grandad was a joiner, got all of his old tools, the chisels look identical to the Narex above, I guess 30-50 years old.

Some things just need a chisel.

Router to chop most hinges and ironmongery in
Use a multitool mostly chopping in Yale keeps. 4 plunges and I'm done while someone's still banging 7 shades out of the frame with a chisel
(Multitool is an electric chisel to me )

What you really need is a framing hammer turn them round and just hit the bit of wood with the back of the hammer and remove the need for a chisel altogether

I just hit things directly with the back of the framing hammer probably the best hammer I have ever bought
That or a Germans engineer hammer for the same reason nice pointy hitty bit

I use a straight claw framing hammer makes one hell of hatchet, great for roughing half lap joints the finish of with the circ saw

dangerous things claw hammers. when I was an apprentice on site 5 of the blokes grabbed me and was going to dunk me in a 50 gallon drum of water I managed to kick a few of em and they let go the joiner dropped his claw hammer and I picked it up and when he was running I flung it at him hard .it left my hand and I wished I hadn't just shaved his head and nearly dropped him they were that narked and chased me so I was hiding round the corner flinging offcuts of steel conduit at them if they showed there faces not allowed now to do stuff to apprentices now . never forgot it . could have killed him

Back to chisels, I bought a set from Rutlands when they were on offer, they sharpen up nicely and I use any hammer to hand. They are £39.95 for the set now but I would buy them again if I needed to.

just get used from a car boot.....
even a 1" for less than a fiver.....
the money u save buy a Diamond stone to sharpen once u get the edge to shape.....
shame u dont live close buy could give u a set of Stanley's.......

These are my well used Ashley isles chisels, been used on site and at a bench i suspect they will last a few more decades.

The very best steel ive used.
