Noticed today that my comp won't hold pressure.there was 40 psi in the tank, and after approx 45 mins it was empty.what should I be checking besides obvious joints.

if there are no external leaks then check the non return valve

well once its in the tank theres no where else for it to go unless your joints are leaking ./a bit of soapy water round them and slacken the feed pipe off from the one way valve and check there

The diaphragm in the pressure switch may be punctured.

My compressor does that sometimes. Just to be awkward it can hold over 100psi for several days if the wind's in the right direction.

Do you have any pipework connected to it? Did you check the drain valve?
