Wobbly wheel

Been to view a Honda c90 this evening,one fault,front wheel flexes,not in the hub,the forks,they’re leading link,seller had replaced the original as they had rotted,using a pair from a later model,I’m suspecting something missing or wrongly fitted,never had any of these apart,I’ve only done conventional telescopic whereby new bushes is the usual fault,this flex is sideways.
Any experience here please?

I had this many years ago.

The problem was the leading link had excess play on the pivot pin, stripping and regreasing the pivots helped.
It eventually got fixed properly by swapping parts from a spares bike but I can't remember if I swapped the arms, the pivot pins, or both bits.

Easy to fix if you can find the parts ( Dave Silvers used to be the go-to contact for Honda spares, not looked for many years but their website is still up https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/ )

Turn the bike around so the front wheel is facing the rear and then look at the suspension as if it is a twin shock rear end (with very short swing arm). Whatever you need to diagnose or repair one of those will then hold for the challenge you are facing.

Maybe something worn, but more likely the clamp bolts that hold the axle pin haven't been tightened - I did exactly this many years ago on dads 90 c200, made it feel like riding a jet ski (not that there were any around then). Check them bolts..

C90 with leading link forks, I'd guess that it will be the linkages on the leading links badly wore out as almost nobody bothers to grease the grease nipples at the right interval. When I worked on bikes for a living I used to put 2-3 kits a month in them all with these symptoms which they had failed the mot on.You can get a link rebuild kit with all the bushes and pivots etc that wear in one hit that is a hours job to put in. Some of the kits are crap quality, maybe its been rebuilt with a friday afternoon special kit that wore out quick.

Unconventional opinion, honda c50/70/90 are the worlds best ever bike, you put oil and fuel in, stop the frame rot in its tracks and fix the abused bits and they just keep going quietly without any pretentiousness. I love CT90's even more because they have conventional tele forks and a high low splitter on the gearbox, high level pipe and a host of other upgrades to use them offroad, nimble little mountain goats...

We were in Greece on holiday, one day we were way up in the mountains walking on a track & were passed by a local on a Honda 50 or 90 with a huge bag of potatoes across the the step through bit. Just chugging happily up hill.

Saw one a few years ago on Corfu, it had another scooter across the step through and a passenger as well.

I knew a mad old hippy in Herefordshire who rode a C90.
the pressed steel frame had rotted. He chucked in a load of off cuts of 8mm mild steel bar and poured concrete in to fill the void. As far as I know still on the road
