WIX diesel filters

Her GLC has the same filter also.

I always search ebay with the MB part number for the best deal.

Any one using WIX filters and can comment on the quality? Normally I use Mann, Bosch or Hengst

It's more than a water sensor (heating element IIRC).

Never tried a Wix filter, but Crosland equivalents are rubbish and will often trigger filter faults.
I'd personally only fit OE or Mann from a reputable source.

Crosland were dog poo 20 odd years ago, sounds like they are still the same.

I have used Mann on my cars for some time, and have now convinced the boss to start fitting them on the trucks as roughly 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of oe.

Crosland were dog poo 20 odd years ago, sounds like they are still the same.

Crosland are now a ECP owned brand, so even more questionable quality.

Wix are decent. Made by the same people as mann filters I believe

Yes I see WIX appear to have been bought over by Mann group. So sod it I went ahead and ordered one, what's the worst that can happen....

Anything bought from a dealership will be OTT on the price. Somebody, somewhere, makes them for merc?

OE isn't always more expensive.
Some service kits are cheaper from dealers, than decent aftermarket filters.

Yeah that is heated filter for sure.

I had error codes from cheap fitlers on these.

We do allot of Merc taxis with this type of fitler fitted...

There are alot of cheap unbranded filters for these on ebay. That is, no brand at all!

These ones are WIX brand filters and form the couple of people on here who have used WIX filters they reckon they are OK.

I will install it and report back on quality and if there are any new fault codes as a result after a few weeks of driving FWIW

Mate worked as a lorry driver for Fuchs oil. They supplied "genuine" oil to Merc dealers in Merc logo containers at a higher price than Fuchs logo containers !
Mercedes won't manufacture filters (oil, air, fuel cabin etc) themselves and will have another manufacture supply them in Merc logo.

Hence why the likes of MB, VW & BMW most likely do repackage the same Fuchs products and re-sell. Nothing new there.

I know the actual Fuchs oils and for MB transmission fluids etc I buy the Fuchs bottles from Opie oils cheaper. Although MB prices are generally competitive enough.

I would use the Merc main dealer a lot more but they are about a 60 mile round trip and won't post parts I usually use Autodoc for everything, do a big £150+ order once a year or so, car parts in motion if I need it in a day or two or if I need it right now I used ECP or local factors.

There used to be such a fuss made about ATF for Merc transmissions. There was outright horror and gleeful predictions of an expensive transmission rebuild on the Merc forums when I used comma multivehicle ATF in my 722.6 in about 2010 (it claimed 236.12). It was absolutely fine and clocked up another 100k miles without issue, car died of something else.
I did used to buy fuches titan 4134 20l at a time from a seller in Germany which worked out really cheap but once brexit happened it got really expensive all of a sudden.
I still have some of that left for the next fluid change but have a barrel of fanfaro universal ATF to use after that. It's even cheaper than Comma so we'll see how that goes, i've not found anyone saying it broke their gearbox though.
I think the 722.6 was originally designed for 236.10 ATF anyway which is quite high viscosity. Although all or most of the newer specs are backward compatible , they are low viscosity in comparison. At the age these transmissions are at now I think a higher viscosity would be helpful.

I won't use them anymore. The spin on ones I used on Merc diesels used to have the same shape and appearance as a bosch filter and seemed OK but they suddenly changed, maybe when ECP bought them. Way smaller filter body with what looked like a small paper concertina filter inside it, probably not much better than an inline filter and no seal to separate the threaded hole in the centre from the holes round the outside, so it was totally relying on just the threads in the centre to stop filtered fuel mixing with unfiltered fuel lol

It arrived today. Pleasingly it does have COO on it:






So it says made for WIX in Czech Republic. Here is a mann filter I have which was close but doesn't have the hose but it's made in the same place, same font and a 6 digit factory code:



So yeah, same filter reboxed for 1/3 the price. Actually my local auto factor charges £80 for a mann filter and this one was £15 delivered on ebay with the 20% off code.

I'll be buying 3 or 4 more for the shelf.
