Mix 40% paraffin, 40ATF and 20% SAE 40.
If you can warm the mix all the better.
Add to the box, run it off load. Drain and repeat if required.

Run it in 20 second bursts, with no load, it won't do any harm.
Well after leaving it drain for 24hrs it is incredible how much gunk came out. I don't think it was grease - just 40 year old EP90!
Refilled it with a mix of kero and SAE30 oil - ran even quieter than before. I ran it for 10 mins gear engaged and 10 mins gear out. Drained it again and the oil looks very clean. Will refill tomorrow and keep my eye on it.
What a lovely wonderful machine it is! And I bought it by accident just to cut up pallet wood. I found a chop saw is much better for that.

Filling with diesel and running with no load for a short time seems to be the most effective method of flushing out gearboxes that you can easily do, and all you'll need. It doesn't take long for it to mix up and come out filthy, if it's really bad do it a second time and then enjoy having clean oil in the future.
I don't know anything about the gearboxes on these saws but if there's any bronze parts inside you'd be best avoiding GL5 spec gear oil as it can be harmful to them, GL4 spec is fine.
