thanks for the constructive critcisim i am learningthe outer insulation is out of the box and u could have kept the wires shorter and in line. hmmm don't show me any more![]()
Are those crimps suitable for mains wiring? They look like automotive types to me.
You also seem to have a data cable running through the left box, there should be separation from mains...
Current standards clearly define the separation between power and data cables. For instance, the minimum separation distance between unscreened power and unscreened UTP cable is 200 mm. This is reduced to 50 mm for screened data cable and to just 30 mm if the power cable is screened. Electro-magnetic interference from power cables can reduce the performance of data cables, particularly speed of data transmission.
don't get a lot of choice when your using twin compartment dado trunking round a computer room or offices . data and sockets
Also not good to mix mains & phone\data cable even though 16-6-6-1 now allows it, If I read it correctly
Exactly i don't think the separation distance in the reg's are realistic or appropriate to modern data connections and error handling.
There must be thousands of miles of data cabal sitting on top of power without any problems.
I wouldn't be happy with mains and signal joined with crimps in the same box, especially 1.5mm crimps on a bit of tooth floss size cat 5 big risk of wire pulling out and sticking into a live terminal.
EDIT :- are the crimps all the same size?
look at post above twin compartmentBS There is usually a partition\separator, when I was an apprentice my boss would have handed me my cards if I had left a roof in that state.
A lot of sites now want things laid out logically to aid fault finding
I must say I do like the method employed for fixing the copper pipe...
Perhaps the leak will put out the electrical fireI know its not what a time served plumber would be happy to see but, i would sort of be OK ish with it. I am guessing it will be positioned when the insulation goes on. Anyway floods are easier to deal with than fires.
