looks like the capacitor 2 wires go to the top and bottom left hand posts because the wires have been cut and live and neutral feed either way round on the 2 yellow crimp lugs . don't blame me if its wrong

Agree.
Can you (OP) do a little bit of detective work? Do the capacitor wires look identical in colour and size to the bare (cut) ends in the motor? The wire inside one of the ring terminals looks a different colour to the other. Have a close look and see if you can deduce anything.

the cap wires one on the top left will be the live feed and the return bottom left down in to the start winding wont matter which way round the 2 wires on the right poles will be the neutrals in to the windings and there is a link bar between them top to bottom neutral feed to that
