Hi guys.. after a bit of electrician advice
So I am after turning my garage into a workshop and need some extra power.
The garage is attached to the house.
There is approx 2m distance from house consumer unit to garage consumer unit.
I will need to increase the size of the consumer unit and have been looking at a 6 way metal rcd unit.
The cable to the house consumer unit will need replacing and maybe the house rsbo to a higher amp.
I most likely will require a 32 amp socket and also one rated to 16 amps
I want to use a welder without tripping the system.
I also want to be able to use a tumble dryer and a washer together.
So my questions are..
1.. what thickness of wire to connect house to garage I was thinking 16mm
2.. what amp fuse in the house consumer unit connecting to to the garage consumer unit.
3.. any reccondations for the mcbs in the metal garage consumer box. Was thinking 2x 6a 2x 32 2x 40.
4.. I am going to buy the parts and get a spark to fit them.. what kind of labour cost do you think I should expect...
Many thanks
Mike
