Wiring a phone extension

Just redoing our lounge. Have stripped, demolished, installed chimney breast lintel, plastered, run various cables behind new skirting, decorated and installed woodburner . OK I did the strip, demolish and lintel, but have hired pros to do the rest!

Anyway I have run ethernet and phone to where the TV will be. I have a phone extension lead with the extension reel cut off that will plug into the master socket. The extension socket has 6 IDC connectors, looking in the master socket while I was fixing it back on the wall I see it has orange and white connected, others left free so presumably I only need to connect those pins up. Does anyone know what terminals I should collect what colours to in the extension socket, or am I going to have to dismantle the plug at the other end to find what wires are on which pins?

from the master socket to the slave use 3 wires blue with thin white stripe to no 2 orange with thin white stripe to no 3 and thin white and blue striped cable to no 5

Thanks, will wire it in and test tomorrow. Need to get some satellite and TV patch cables to go sockets to sky box, oh and a new carpet, TV and home cinema sound system. Any advice on those

For an extension from a BT master, Pins 2&5 are one pair (usually blue white & white blue), the second pair is 3&4 ( orange white & white orange )

BT master has two connected incomming (orange and white ) but requires that the above ( well not actually four) are connected to the extension socket (s) or no ringer on the extensions.

buy good quality screened cable and use f sockets if u can fit them crimped are better but screw on ones are ok digital reception needs good conections to get all channels where as analogue wasnt as fussy

I have 2x aerial sockets to do antenna down and up to bedroom (inc sky eye), 2x F type wallsockets, need to get some patch cables. Never been ipressed with the sky engineer installed screw on plugs/double shotgun cable. Will look much better when finished, then I'll hide it behind a telly again!

+1 for at least crimp connectors for the F type. I don't know how many screw on F connectors I have seen mysteriously unscrewed, always in the hardest to find place. We always replace screw on F with sealtite, at about a £1 a go * they are expensive compared to screw on connectors but as it's my pocket that covers the guarantee well worth it.

* and the tool to fit them was about £80 IIRC.
