Had a bit of a mishap on monday moving stuff around in the workshop and caught the wire speed control on my unit didnt do any real damage from what i saw,it was only when i started to do some welding that things with the wire speed wasn't quite right,it was either to fast or to slow, just couldn't get a happy medium, the speed became rather erractic at some point it wouldn't go at all without turning it up from the lowest setting to much higher then turning it back down again to the setting i wanted.
Anyway took the side off to have a look gave the board the switch is on a bit of a dusting saw no burn outs or anything loose put it all back in switched on nothing it only worked when i put force on it like pushing it in would the motor turn,so i gave it a friendly tap(after a few blue words) it then seemed to work ok.
Thing now is it still dont seem right, feels like the wire speed is either to fast or to slow no matter what wire i use (0.6 or 0.8) the welds have the slow or to fast signs,so just for the hell of it i thought i'd do the wire speed tests the results are as follows figures are approx give or take +/- a few MM and 1/100th second
Setting 1 wire speed nothing wheel didnt move
2 1.92 M per min
3 3.78
4 4.50
5 6.18
6 6.48
7 7.74
8 7.98
9 8.64
10 9.66
Now the thing that got me was setting 4 and 5 i did this a few times and still got roughly the same readings rather a large differance between the two.
Now i know you have to fine tune it to the right speed but i dont seem to get it the way it was before, have i ******ed the wire speed control????????????
Just like to add i did the speed test not doing any welding with gas off to
