Has anyone got a quick reference for actual wire speed vs. the wire speed knob on the front of the 90EN? I don't have a stopwatch any more to measure it myself, and wondered if perhaps some kind soul could save me that step. Assuming all 90ENs are the same, of course.
I'm finding that in my first few test welds, anything above 2.5 or maybe 3 at a push leads to the wire just glowing but not striking an arc, and I just get left with what looks like worm casts on the workpiece. I'm using 0.8mm wire on 2mm sheet for the practice welds.
It's a used welder I bought at a good price because I felt my old MiniMig Mk2 was playing up, and it came with the 0.8mm wire. I am just about to go and get a 0.6mm tip as that's what I use on the MiniMig, to see if that helps. Seems strange that the wire speed dial would go up so far if the welder cannot melt it. Unless it's faulty, of course.
