Wire size of spool for Clarke 150 TE

Hi Guys and Gals.
I ran out of wire yesterday and had to put back on my 8mm to finish a little job. That .06mm was a Halfrauds spool and I feel it didn't last too long. I was looking through fleabay's stuff and see varying size spools .05K, .07K and 15K spools, what is the biggest my machine can handle? My .08mm spool is big, it came with the welder and don't remember size. I'm still practicing so buying cheapest just now. .

try weldequip for the lincoln wire

The cheapest wire will not help practice. The cheap Chinese junk is just horrid as it varies wildly in tolerances. I could never get a roll of it to feed smoothly.

Get the Lincoln wire, makes a world of difference.

Weldequips stuff sounds a good bet, but what about Murex? It is about a tenner cheaper on fleabay just now.

Measure the available space for your wire reel, 5Kg size roll is 8" Dia,

Going by the manual, 150TE supports mini (0.7kg) or 5kg rolls.

I saw a 15K roll on fleabay and was thinking of getting it but thought I had better seek advice. Thank 'fcuk' I did or I would have been trying to flog it on fleabay again! Thanks again for the advice.

Rab, you could buy the big spool and wind the wire on to your empty 5 kilo spool as you need it. This would perhaps work out cheaper for wire in the long run.

I thought of that idea but I then read somewhere that the wire had to be precision wound and I don't really have any winding tools available, and not a lot of space for all the projects I have going on.
