Wire repair 12 awg and remove connectors

Ok got little thing for family

A battery scooter has damaged cable its a bit short so say so like to extend it by few inches as well as fix the insulation

The wire is 12 awg wire is this special


How to remove the connectors from the plug area (I've trryed a little screw driver down both sides and give pull push bit nothing

And when I get the wire twist both pairs and solder together or just intertwine the stands and then solder ?

any help on this guys

its a battery of a mobility scooter its years old but still going ok for the family member and very expensive to replace if i cant sort it as the scooter is a foldup one that goes in a back of a car

i dont realy want to play and brake the conector as it will be a problem if when they plug it in the conectors slide out the back of the conector when pluging it in

It's only 4mm wire. If it's a connector that regularly needs to come apart I would be using a small Anderson style connector, and replace both sides

I agree with Anguz 12 awg is just under 4mm sq. and then use an Anderson connector.

These connector pins are often held in by a springy metal tab which is part of the pin, and as you said, can be released with a jeweller's screwdriver alongside the pin. However, in this case it's possible that the holding tab is part of the black plastic, rather than the metal pin. Then again, the contact itself is wrapped around both sides of a piece of black plastic, so that would have to come out along with the pin ....?

Thanks peoples I've went had a look found the red lead there was only a few strands loose so used solder on them I've take some more cable out the box so a bit more length

And yes it was a clip on the black plastic that had to be pushed away from the metal clip should be sorted now thanks guys
