Hi everyone,
Ive used this forum forum for a while but never needed to register, im not what you would call a professional welder but I do from time to time. I have a small Draper 900 Mig, gassless welder that I use for odd jobs round the house and on my mini.
Today I had to get it out to finnish off a job for my dad on the gates of the house, just welding some plates onto the top of posts. It has never let me down in all the time I have had it but today, after about 2 inches of good welding the wire feed totally stopped working.
I came into the house to have a look on here and found some distantly related topics but nothing exact, so then I went and had a bash at finding what could be the problem, I have stripped the torch down to find that the wire going to the trigger was hanging on by a few strands. After sorting this still the motor will not turn. I then took the motor out and tested it with another power supply and it turns just fine. I am completely baffled.
When I turn the welder on it makes all the right noises and still strikes an arc, it simply wont feed wire through and now I am stuck with half finnished gates on the front of the house.
If anyone has any ideas i would really appreciated it,
Cheers Steve!
