Cheers for the reply the snooper, I've sussed it out now. I was trying it out on some really thin metal 0.8 in fact, but what I didn't realise was most of the weld was underneath. Also I was messing about with the wire speed a bit more on different thickness steel and I now know it needs to be spot on not just roughly. You definitely learn alot from practicing etc. Like I say I'm still only a newbie so I've got alot to learn, thank you all who replied. A pic of a weld on 3mm plate.
