If your wire has an annoying tendency to keep sticking in the end of the copper tip, or burning back to the tip, it is because of:-
a) Wire speed too low - turn it up, if it still does it:-
b) Worn Contact Tip (these are important as they transfer the welding current to the wire), change the Tip
c) Rusty Wire, causes ALL kinds of problems - change it.
d) Blocked Torch Lining. Caused by rusty wire & just through use. These things are only 0.9mm ID so you have just one thou. clearance if using 0.8mm wire & zero if you are using 0.9mm Flux-Cored!
They get blocked with any rust particles & with the copper coating of the wire that flakes off at the feed rollers & is dragged through. If your torch has the standard black PVC type lining these can also become damaged when you feed wire through if there are any burrs on the leading edge - best to file the end of the wire before feeding through.
