Wire feed stopping

I have replaced a lot of torch and earthing components on my 100EN Turbo and it's been running fine, but last night the wire feed motor kept cutting out intermittently whilst welding. I want to investigate why it was doing it, but I can only think that as I was moving the torch I may have relaxed my finger on the trigger enough to break the metal contact in the torch handle.

What, other than the trigger contact, would cause the wire feed to stop in the middle of a weld?

When the welder thermal cutout kicks in?

If the wire gets stuck to the tip and can't feed?

The thermal cut-out will close the whole machine down for several minutes, and may illuminate a warning lamp.

If the wire sticks at the tip the rollers will skid or form a "birds nest" where the wire enters the liner, depending whether or not you've got the tension set correctly.

You could try slackening the feed roll tension right off, shut the gas off at the bottle and try moving the torch around whilst holding the trigger and listening to the motor. There could be an intermittent connection in there somewhere.

Thanks. Pretty sure it's not the first two. Will give this a go tonight and hopefully find the culprit!

I double checked everything, and noticed that the roller groove wasn't aligned with the wire, so I did some minor adjustments and it is a lot smoother now. I also measured the wire feed speed at every setting, and in between, and had no issues with it stopping, so I think it was an issue with the operator!
