For the wirefeed motor speed to vary depending on whether the torch is arcing or not implies a fault or very poor design. Either the voltage supplied to the motor circuit is varying, or the speed controller is sloppy. These are the kinds of issues seen on cheap machines ( e.g. SIP ) which force owners to use replacement DC power supplies and build new control circuits. A well-designed machine should have a stabilised DC supply dedicated to the feed motor and, ideally, a Pulse Width Modulated speed control circuit. I would expect this quality on a Parweld, so maybe there is a fault.
