wire feed problem

Hi I have a Clarke 130en. The wire feed has stopped, when I press the trigger I can hear a click. Any help appreciated

I would take the top off, check for voltage at the motor and work my way back to the control board. There are plenty of exposed/semi exposed mains voltage connections and this test needs to be done live so only tackle it if you are competant/your own risk, etc, etc....

You could also check connections with the power off before live testing.

If you check the clarke website there should be a manual with a wiring diagram.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Have you tried for wire feed at all settings of the power selection switches?
The supply for the wirefeed motor is taken from the main welding output. Even with no movement of the wire, can you still strike an arc at the tip of the MIG wire?

Hi, I have an old Clarke te 151 en gas/no gas mig welder I bought my dad over 2 decades ago, it didn’t see much work. Anyway, used it last year to weld some cills on a mk2 golf and put it away in the garage. Advertised it for sale as it’s not needed anymore and when I checked it last night the wire feed motor doesn’t work, the relay clicks but motor don’t turn ! Any ideas what to check ? Cheers !

Hi, but of an update ! Took the wire speed control board out and noticed a big ceramic resistor has lifted off the pcb…put it back in its place and the welder is driving wire again ! The trip on the boot of a sports car with hard coilover suspension didn’t do any favors ! Glad it’s working again though !

Here’s the offending resistor ! Solders it back on the pcb and it’s working well again !
