Many thanks for your constructive reply. When I use flux-core I'll consider using a slightly larger tip. I have been using 1mm for 0.8mm wire, simply because the 1.0mm tips were in the box. I'll get some 0.8mm tips for my 0.8mm solid wire use now. Thank you
no worries to be honest, I've used regular sized tips the few times I've used fluxcore and it works just fine... but maybe that was because it was 1mm wire through an MB36 torch, so was staying fairly cool.
You soon know if "necking" is a problem with a tip, because as you weld, everything heats up and expands, and the wire starts snatching and feeding poorly, the longer you weld, the worse it gets.
