Froze my nuts off today on a shredder job.

Need some good overalls, work trousers and hi vis bomber jacket isn’t cutting it.

Must be FR. High vis orange. Ideally FR reflective bands on legs.

I’m currently looking at Roots and Pioner.

Any reviews?

I see there are some winter grade overalls too.

Decent thermals under my normal workwear has always served me well in winter.

Besides your outer shell I'd also look at next to skin insulation; I'm guessing you aren't moving around much to generate much heat yourself - several thin layers are better than one or two thicker ones in my experience. Merino has worked well for me in the past and has the added benefit of not needing washing as much as many man-made fibres.

I like roots stuff, oops I mean I like the roots stuff I got for nothing. But good yhermals are essential.

Ive got some Roots flame proof ovies - just the standard flame proof ones but they are really good quality (should be for the price mind!). I believe they also do different cold weather versions etc but I’ve not tried them first hand, they are almost standard issue for offshore workers so must be pretty decent as they don’t get an easy life out there!

What I will say of the quilted insultaed overalls, great if its dry, get them wet and they are awful to wear. Based on working in the north Atlantic offshore for 10 years. I use them at home in winter too, down to my last pair.

If your that cold at work you need to work harder lol. Only ever my hands that bug me in the winter but I don't like wearing gloves for the most.

Hasn't been cold enough for me to dig my thermals out yet.
Cleaning out tiling tools and buckets and using a wet saw outside today was a bit nippy mind.

All my gear supplied by work is Roots. I even have lined boiler suit for going off shore.

Have a Heli Hansen fire proof jacket too. It’s the mutts nuts, but expensive

Get yourself to decathlon and buy some thermals! Work outside on nights, and outerwear is only as good as your base layers!

I have been gritting the last 10 years and it involves getting out of the truck and hand gritting paths, and I wear merino wool long johns and tops.
It has been a game changer

I’ve never bothered with padded overalls in this country, I find them too warm when working. If it’s not windy I get away with a decent set of thermals (ice breaker) under my normal work Clothes, overalls and hat , and then short fleece buff necky, ( it’s the long flece /fabric winter buff with the fabric cut off)

When it’s windy I wear the same with a cotton wind proof smock over the top. I Tried loads of fireproof jackets but find they all smoulder and cover you in hot plastic!
