If your putting the pan on you might as well have a full fry up, and you can't have a fry up without black pudding, so a trip down to Tesco's is needed. By the time you get back from the pub, its a bit dark and cold for starting work, so best to put the kettle on and light the fire.
This winter I'll be... *thinks about the massive todo list*... Not making a list of all the things I'd like to do and getting depressed that I'm not getting enough finished and then go into a downer and have weeks when I achieve nothing as a result.
Instead this winter I'll be happy if I get the second bathroom done in the house I'm still building because otherwise I'll probably be murdered in my sleep by the wife and I get my shed's chassis dyno finished. Anything else will be a bonus.

I soent three winters working under and around the ar53-end of my TVR, finally getting it back on the road at the start of this year.
During said year I have realised that a number of issues under and around the FRONT end need attention...
Leaking thermostat housing... flange keeps deforming allowing water past (oddball type fitted to these cars, I might fabricate one or mill from solid)
Noisy PAS pump (I have a spare... somewhere)
Radiator missing nearly all its fins from the bottom half, where it gets blasted by road cr@p coming in the main air intake (believe it's a modified early RangeRover type, probably just as easy to have it recored as find a decent replacement)
Chassis tubes need stripping and repainting (booooooring...!)
Planned 4-pot brake conversion - as in, planned in 2003, got all the bits, still waiting!
Meanwhile I've been fancying a log burner but calculations suggest it'd need to be 20kW plus to make a dent in the workshop volume!

Well outside work under carport, I have Citroen C5 rear rams to rebuild with seal kits and gaitors. New rear brake calipers, discs and pads too.
When gonads start to drop off, I will be into garage and get logs on and strip a Yamaha 5hp 2stroke outboard. That is pumping water out through the gearchange and needs 2 O rings renewed in there. Then it will be the sewing machine to make a new boat cover for 18 ft fly fishing boat.

I never even thought about making a Wood Burner out of a gas bottle.. I have a few spare bottles and have just bought a Plasma Cutter, so this will make an idea first project.. That said, cutting a bottle bothers me a little, so will have to take every precaution to ensure its empty...
But that said, I have always wanted a forge and I wonder if I can find a project to make one using said propane bottle....

Screw the valve off and fill the bottle to the brim with water and leave it for a few days before you start work.

If I can source myself a house with a garage I'll be trying to get back on with my long term trackday/race car build.
Last thing I did was knock up an inlet manifold for it. After that it's gathered dust for three years.

. It is quite mild here right now, so can't consider it winter yet. That means the notcher I started today doesn't count. Workshop needs wiring properly , that has been a five year hangover. There is a little cruising boat that should have been finished last spring, perhaps will be by the coming one.
Anybody else make a list that includes stuff that is really finished, so ticks can be added straight away? Quite encouraging when seen the next cold & misty morning.
This weekend I have to swop the engine in the wife's Twingo, that will do for the moment.

I've had a house to do up ready for sale (just accepted an offer this week) for the last 6 months or so if that counts. After that I've got a nice 02 Transit chassis/cab to do a little work on to get it ready for sale. (bought it in as a potential gas delivery truck years ago but we never pressed it into service as the payload was so pants) We removed the bed and shortened the rear chassis overhang but never finished it off. Got to weld a box-section rear crossmember back into the chassis legs and fit a tailboard lights, number plate etc.
Then I don't know what, hunt for new premises I guess.

Whilst by Bros project is on hold for a few days, I took the opportunity to organise my workshop some more comprising of new work benches (and out with the old), and a shelving unit for my welders.

Enough room for another shelf. Gas bottles are stored underneath. A few more hooks are needed to hang up the torches and leads etc.

Part way through polishing it up and renewing bearings etc. Its the start of my Bros 400 winter project.
Excluding the engine, the bike is pretty much stripped to the bone.
