Would you believe I ended up with a good Talbot Horizon?
I used to help out a friend installing TV aerials and he ran 3 Avenger estates which used the same running gear as Talbot Horizon. One of them had gone twice round the clock which was something you seldom saw on cars at that time.
Have you seen how much a lotus horizon fetch,
I was given a Sunbeam Ti and iirc that had the same engine as the Tiger.
Sunbeam and Avenger were rearwheel drive and were the same design syle as the ford escort apart from the rear axle on sunbeam which used links and coil springsI know the Talbot Sunbeam had the same running gear as the Avenger, I was given a Sunbeam Ti and iirc that had the same engine as the Tiger. I thought the Horizon started life as a Simca as it's front wheel drive??
A mate of mine had a Ti and I'm pretty sure it was the Tiger engine fitted, traded it for a Lotus Sunbeam, that was fun to drive when I had a go, very easy to get sideways
Born largely out of the need to replace the ageing Simca 1100, the Horizon was essentially a shortened version of the larger Alpine model, giving the vehicle an unusually wide track for its length. Featuring the familiar range of Simca-designed 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5 L OHV engines, and torsion-bar suspension, the Horizon gained praise for its crisp styling, supple ride, and competent handling. It was voted European Car of the Year in 1979. Its launch saw to the end of the 1100 and the rear-engined Simca 1000.
