Windows 10 and firefox pains

Ok just an update, I replace ADblock with Ublock and so far and all seems ok, That said the memory usage is still high with firefox using 1.5 gb off memory but the CPU is at 8% and almost no disc usage, Normally after 4 days i am ready to scream but so far so good.

They also have the same memory hole problems. I can't believe they still haven't sorted it out.
The only solutions is to end task every now and then. It will crash but then you can restore tabs or pages.

I have this all the time. But i am wondering if microsoft have a timed bug installed.
I am getting some strange goings on with a fresh install.

My fresh 10 Pro instal seems to be very stable with no memory leakage from Chrome. It still has the annoying 'randomly dropping network' issue. but it doesn't seem so prevalent now.

You can turn down the number of threads it uses (content process limit in settings) if you value having memory free over outright performance. But then for a modern machine 1.5gb of memory is not usually an issue.

I tried that months ago, but it's a timely reminder because as it's a fresh instal it was enabled

Does more memory make windows more stable. I usually run windows ultimate 64bit except on mylaptop which is 64 bit home premium.

Since i upgraded the processor and did a fresh install i only fitted one gig of ram as it did not seem to like the 2 gig sticks. So as it kept restarting and doing strange things when copying files i left it.

I have firefox installed but its a plain install and i am not actually using the machine in earnest yet.

1GB is too small. Using Chrome with a dozen or so tabs open I'm running at 55%. That's 4.4GB. The less RAM, the more the system pages, which means it's swapping data from memory to disc more frequently. Since disc I/O is several factors of 10 slower then RAM I/O you get a system bottleneck which slows everything down.

Right...i will try the 2 gig ram sticks. I just got a replacent 2gig identical to the one i have misplaced so if it works i now have 4 sticks of 2 gig again..

I thought it was my network that was slow.

dont forget if dosnt work in 2 dual slots they can work in separate slots or if you have 4 slots put them into the other 2 slots

They seemed to not work together in the white slots (1 in each bank) but will work in the black slots.

Windows is nuts....



Its copying 212 gig and does not even report a transfer speed...

no its your main board not windows i found that problem once

also 1 and 3, 2 and 4

for dual sockets its either the above or same colour

its all in your mainboard instructions to dual run them or run them as a single memory stick

i never copy that big it takes ages also copy smaller 100 gig takes me about 3/4 hr for it ive had the copy fail a few times so learnt not to do them that big

I am only really copying large amounts while reorganising. I need everything on one drive to do a duplicate file search (anyone know the best one to use) so i can cull the 4 copies of large files that were across 6 drives..

I am sure i was running 6 gigs with 3 sticks in the other mobo. But it was interweaving mode or sumat like that.

There are usually two memory busses which need to be balanced for best performance. It's the hardware not Windows

The only problems I have had with Fire Fox were it refusing to play videos on YouTube, FB etc. fixed that one my turning off hardware acceleration.

Interesting i had to install a plugin as i could not view you tube videos in firefox
