I'm still on with the never ended kitchen project. We have new windows on order and wanting to replace the inner window sill/board with 30mm polished slate prior to the window fitters arriving. Removed the facia boards the previous owners used as sills and the orignal wooden ones they'd been glued onto.
The pics below show the hidden mess. It looks like breeze block inner with brick outer filled with some kind of insulation fluff. I'm assuming, and looking for advice too if wrong, that I need to push the insulation down, partially fill with expanding foam and then level off to the top of the outer brickwork with cement. If not please put me on the right path.
BTW I'm keeping the tiles so hopefully don't need to remove.
