Inherited a winch from a friend of mine, finest chinesium rhino winch. Stripped it down and discovered that the reason it wouldn’t work is the motor coupling is knackered. Couplings, as far as I can tell are not available. I can find a similar warn winch version but it’s not cheap enough to take a punt on!
To that end, I’ve machined a coupling blank, recovered the splined end off the old one and press fit it inside and will run a bead of weld round it too, the other end is somewhat more awkward. As you can see from the picture of a similar one it has two internal dogs in the bore, the question is, how can I machine these?
