Hi Chaps. A friend of mine has a 1943 Willys/Ford Jeep with a smoking habit. I've cleaned out the crankcase breather system. done a compression test wet and dry. Showed good at 80psi on all four pots. Still smoking, so I took the head off at the weekend, to find a scored bore and a couple of small cracks between one of the studs (helicoiled) and the adjacent water gallery. There is no visible information on the piston crowns regarding over sizes etc, but there is a large gap (3mm) between the pistons and the bore. Two of the valves which are open can be wobbled side to side in their guides even with spring tension on them. So I'm asking if there are any Jeep experts on here who might be able to advise a way forwards, ie do I scrap the block or rebuild it? Having done other jobs on this "rebuilt" jeep it looks like it has been cobbled together and given a shiny paint job. I can post piccys once my post count is up a bit. Would be most grateful for any advice.
