Will i ruin a normal wood screw if i put a blob of weld inside the head?
Changed the hinges on my gym door so I can open it outwards so want to just make the screw heads on the hinge unusable.

most modern screws are hardened but a blob of weld wont harm it unless u chuck water on it when its hot

Kent's suggestion is much better, I'll just add that it's easier still to just use an old pozi bit in the drill and don't apply enough pressure, saves dulling a drill bit.

I drilled all the screws in my shed doors to stop them being removed...when I did have to remove them I just welded new cut down screw heads to them

Will this not wear the wrong edges more than the left loosening side? Never done it myself - well intentionally at least but when my drill driver messes a head I just reverse it out rather than continue

I'll drill them, saves dragging the welder out.

I'm not making it too hard to get the door off it if they really want to get in, I'd rather replace the door once they've seen there's nothing worth stealing then a hole in the wall, just don't want to make it too easy

I've had many screws spin going in that won't really reverse out - if you kept going a little longer you'd still end up with a mashed up mess.

I made double hanging hooks for hanging tools on, like a U welded with stainless arc rod to the heads of coarse self tappers and screwed in. seem ok

Have you put the hinges flat on the outside ? If so drilling or weld will be useless, the hinges would be just levered off you need to bolt right through the door and frame if this is the case

What you want are clutch screws.

You can modify a normal screw with a Dremel but they are cheap enough to buy - loads on eBay.
Virtually impossible to undo - I used them on my shed door and had a hell of a job when I wanted to change hinges . Not 100% clear from picture but the "missing" piece is at a angle so screwdriver has nothing to grip and cams out

If you drilled the screwhead would it not make it easier to break in? Cordless drill and a starting point already to drill? Making it easier for them. Blob of weld would be better

Anybody worth their salt will knock the pins out anyway, get some hinge pins put in or make your own up.

Me personally no. I would put a blob of weld on. Someone said to drill them so you can't get a screwdriver on them. I think if you do that you are making it easier for someone else to come and finish the drilling for you
