I've got a Irwin record t36 vice that's mounted to a bench:
I'd like to move it so it stands alone and provides more space on the bench.
What size/thickness material could I use for the stand that would provide enough support to take abuse?
I'd rather not spend money if I can help it... Will a scaffold pole suffice?
Alternatively, 1m of 70mm tube with 2mm wall is £20 on eBay. Not sure if suitable though.
Irwin Record T36 Quick Release 6" (150mm) Engineers Vice REC36
Next heaviest (but lightweight in its class) the 'streamline' shape of the 36 provides a wide throat under the jaws for large irregular work.. Ideal for fitting and filing.. An integral anvil permits hammering.. The reinforced body and slide, large diameter main screw and through bolted jaws...
