Hello, I'm completely self taught when it comes to the lathe, milling and welding. For years, partly due to gas suppliers practising usury on cylinder rental, I've gone down the cheapskate route of 'pub gas'.
Then I found this forum, took the advice offered and bought a rent free cylinder of 95% Argon and a proper regulator and flow meter.
The transformation is amazing, so much better.
I changed the gas halfway through a metal folding machine project and now I feel embarrassed at the state of the old welds. If I hadn't invested a lot of time in the project, I would bin it and start again.
So, thank you forum for the advice. My advice is not to be a cheapskate.
Peter
