I have just been doing some welding (3mm plate), and I have been struggling to get the weld started.
Once I get the arc and the puddle forms, I get a nice sizzle and it welds cleanly. But when I started instead of a sizzle, I often get a flash, and the wire burns back and sticks to the nozzle briefly.
Its getting a but frustrating getting started as I have to keep lifting my mask, to try and unjam the wire... And then this repeats until I actually get going.
Are there common reasons for this? Any tips for preventing this?
I should point out that I am using 0.6mm wire (just because thats whats loaded) and am using Argon/CO2...
Any ideas?
Jon
