my hitachi impact got dropped by a mate and the handle cracked.....all cobbled up now.....
so went and bought the strongest Milwauke impact....."muck" what a difference in power.....
so the old Hitachi is used for the smaller screws....hahaha...life so complicated....
also got a 3/8 n 1/2 nut drivers.....sooooo nice....

Up to a year ago i always put screws in with a bit holder in a small cordless and thought "why do they need those noisy impact drivers"...one day i picked my mates driver up to drive a 100mm screw in some timber post The following day i went out and bought 2 impact drivers,one for home and one for the van.

I must say i only use Milwaukee Shockwave driver bits, tried Dewalt flextorq but they snap when cold 1st thing in mornings

What are they like Brian?

I’ve tried nearly everything else but loathe to lob out £50 just to try them when all the other makes appear to be made from the same cheese

I just buy cheap non impact pozi bits. Last a good while before I shatter them.

That was the usual plan but recently they’re just soft.

Was putting in some decking screws on the weekend and every 2 or 3 screws they shattered. That’s makita ones.

Only ran a handful through but I only ever seen to break bits when I'm misusing. Dodgy access/angle etc and can't get the pressure on.

50 notes I buy mine from the counter tops at my local builders merchants James, they have them laid out like stocking fillers when your at the tills,clever marketing really and cost a few quid for 10 of em, btw the reds are the best i have found so far..others may have other views.

Not sure about the tracks on that mate. My DeWalt track only gets used for routing. It's far too flexible.

Milwaukee looks like it's gonna be flexible too. Unless your going cordless might be worth looking at other options. Few reviews I've seen don't rate it highly.


I'm running the flexvolt and it's superb. Not as polished on angle change and height adjust as my old festool but more than usable.

Probably will go cordless anyway - although I can suffice without I do find it so much more convenient. To be honest I've just noticed that their latest circular saw has a guide for a rail anyway, shame mine doesn't. Although it's only a piece of aluminium so may just make a different base plate for mine and be done with it - can be adapted for Festool or whatever tracks are most convenient.

Back to the title, I miss my table same as OP. Mine was air over hydraulic. Wasn’t so much the pumping I didn’t like, it worries me bouncing with every stroke with a bike on it so I went for the air option.

Multi tool is another on the list. Brilliant bit of kit. When I went from yellow to red I sold it as a bundle to my pal. Replaced everything bar that because I don’t like the mechanism to change the blades. It’s a faff. The dewalt one was much better.

There’s loads I could add to the list. 6 way charger is the current thing I wish I’d bought yonks ago.

The list could be endless - the problem is when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

As soon as you start expanding your tool range it opens up whole new avenues.
Problem is it also opens up your wallet.

I've often thought crack would actually work out cheaper than a serious tool addiction...
The amount of times I've seen something that looks really very useful, and then of course you can't unsee it and keep thinking of all the scenarios where it would come in handy - and then of course you have to buy one.

Mac spot weld splitter is the best tool I never paid for
Ck pipe grips with a really really long handle have been invaluable

Exhaust rubber removal pliers
Saves on smashed thumb nails and messing about with screw drivers

Impact driver is one I keep coming back to. The impact wrench is good, multi tool is great, finger sander likewise. But the driver is used on most DIY jobs.

even better if you have 2 of them no swaping bits out for those bigger jobs as well

We've all done it I'm sure, putting off buying a tool/machine/bit of kit because it's expensive and you've done fine up to now. Then you give in, buy one, then spend a while thinking and saying to people "I should have got one years ago."

Well this is my most recent example, a shiny new 500kg electric/hydraulic bike lift which also has side extensions for mowers, quads etc. The difference it makes to my neck and back working at whatever height I need at the press of a button is amazing.

I also put off getting one for years, until eventually it became too much of a pain in the arris working on the floor.
At the time I couldn't find an air / hydraulic one at a decent price so just went for the foot-pump version, and it's perfectly fine for the most part.
Recently I found an air/hydraulic kit for mine for norralorra dosh, so I'm thinking of just going for it.
