Why are the couriers mocking me?

My Portamig is due today.

Steve sent the accessories with one courier and the factory are sending the welder with another.

So at 8:40 this morning, TNT turn up and deliver the stuff from Steve. I was hoping for a lie in as the couriers never get here before mid morning!

13:55 and all I've been able to do is look at my lovely new reg and euro torch.

Are they picking on me :lol:

We get a lot of stuff come on carriers i find ANC pretty good on the whole much better than TNT. I should be getting a box next week from Weldequip

The mig is tucked away in the garage. Not got time to have a play today, so will have to wait until the morning.

One quick question though, I've tried to fit a 5kg roll of wire on it and it looks like there should be some sort of spacer to keep the smaller reel in the right place. Is this right or should it just be free to move along the axis?

You will need to codge an adaptor together yes, Portamig don't supply them & I've been unable to source them seperatly. Clarke supply them with their larger machines... it's basically just a plastic 'collar' that clips over the spool holder to keep the 5kg.spool located on the peg on the back of the holder.

Probably wise not to leave the reel of wire attached to the MIG if it's being left in a garage for any period of time: Bring the wire in-doors ( or place it in a tin/box with a Silica(?) Gel Sachet.

Careful lifting the thing out of the box - I tried it myself as no-one else was around - bad idea.

Courier brought my new portamig 211 the other week and he had no means of moving it from his van. Fortunately we had a sack barrow that he borrowed

The courier and I carried it into the garage where i just cut the box off around it!

Looks ace, I can't wait to have a go, but have other commitments today. Tomorrow I'll post some welding pics.

I'll be welding with it at least on a weekly basis, the wire seems to be ok for that sort of time in my experience. my mate has some huge silica gel packs though, so I'll chuck one of them in too
