its your fault i never thought about the copper ball toilet system yet i know of itGood find Gaz![]()
Yes. The screw fitting is a real blessing, @gaz1 . I will use it to anchor the whole fixture. And, with the ball pre-made, the rest - as you say - is very straightforward.its your fault i never thought about the copper ball toilet system yet i know of it
@Bouledogue a screw down one gives you chance to fit a long rod and screw it down to keep it tight to the roof
you can make every part the hardest being the ball its mostly soldering copper to copper with solder jointing and the 4" copper pipe is expensive but you can make a roll using seam joins pointed in the 1st page link
I'm in l'Aveyron (12), @nickk . Not a lot happens here, but the weather is good and the people are lovely. Where are you based?Which part of France are you in?

I think the one linked to has a 5/8" Whitworth thread (11 tpi).
A suitable threaded rod might be difficult to find in France, so maybe purchase in the UK (https://www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/58-...18313---mild-steel-48-zinc-plated-99798-p.asp)
Another alternative is to file the male thread off this and solder or JB weld it in (so it converts to M12 female):
M16 Male - 14mm & M12 Female - 18mm Thread Adaptor (Total length: 32mm) 6473512

Edit: just noticed that the seam on the eBay one would be vertical in use, whereas your original is horizontal. The pigeons are fussy.

I also would require the seam to be correct. I wouldn't sleep otherwise. The one from PlantexUK seems to fit the bill. Will obtain a sample when in the UK.I am also concerned about the orientation of the seam.
Doesn't feel right somehow![]()

4 miles from Hay-on-wye,we travel and camp in your region, very beautiful. Is cabrerets lot or aveyron?I'm in l'Aveyron (12), @nickk . Not a lot happens here, but the weather is good and the people are lovely. Where are you based?
Oh lovely. Cabrerets is in the Lot, but not far from us at all.4 miles from Hay-on-wye,we travel and camp in your region, very beautiful. Is cabrerets lot or aveyron?
Did that at school, sometimes the copper deposit is brown, powderey and rubs off.If you can only find a replacement in steel, copper plating is quite trivial:
Off the top of my head, I'm sure it's copper sulphate solution, a piece of copper pipe/sheet and a car battery/charger.
you wont get a sample but what i can tell you its made out of 0.8-1mm copper sheet made into a ballI also would require the seam to be correct. I wouldn't sleep otherwise. The one from PlantexUK seems to fit the bill. Will obtain a sample when in the UK.
I have Whitworth rod in various sizes, and can also make it with the lathe.![]()
By a "sample", I mean I will buy one to look at before I buy a half-dozen more.you wont get a sample but what i can tell you its made out of 0.8-1mm copper sheet made into a ball
as goes for the fastening rod you can buy a u channel galvanised part which gives you a good torq point that can be fasted tight to the roof timbers
the bar is best galvanised the ball is copper whilst the fastener is brass
