I still do .When I was 16 ,I spent a lot of spare time with a youngish, but old fashioned and traditional motor engineer, who taught me a lot,he was quirky and insisted on lining up the slots on plastic reg plate bolts

Are slotted screws ever aesthetically preferred? It's not something I have ever thought about unless I'm dismantling something, and curse the person who invented them
The history behind Robertson is interesting , well worthy of a google search ,,, a close call , sort of like the man who invented Six Up ,,, if only things had gone on and worked out , how different would things be now.I'm very much of the opinion that if a fastener must be on display then it should be a feature, on old stuff or "rustic" items that generally means slotted screws.
For more contemporary items it will generally be hex socket of some description.
I like Robertson too but quite uncommon here aside from pocket hole screws.
Basically as long as it's not Phillips or pozidrive im happy.
Thanks - will doNice looking wall but I'd take your old mans address off the plans...
No timescale to be honest, other bits of the project like tarmac wont probably happen for a few weeks or months so it's not urgent. I can get measurements by the end of this week when piers are built. By the way the plans have changed - the wall is curved where it returns into each gatepost, rather than going in at an angle. Total pieces required will be 4no curved @ 90deg 1.7m radius, and 3no straight @ about 4m, all of them about 700mm high. Sorry it's a bit vague at the moment, I'll get accurate measurements and post them on here once all the piers are built.I suspect their will be plenty of offers, do you have a time scale? And full sets of measurements, and materials spec?
What coating would you suggest then? Paint just seems to peel so fast
saves a heap of time painting it yourself too, well worth the money!Galv and powdercoated by Highland galvanising, it looks mint and stays mint
