White boiler suit for an old sea dog to look the part.

Friend of mine is ex Merchant Navy he has a job as a Volunteer on a Mersey tug owned by a museum.
He needs a used white boiler suit size medium if any one has one?
Happy to cover postage etc

I have one - but it was put away damp at some point and has mould spots in various places. It's been washed, but I can't get the pesky things out.
If he knows the answer to that conundrum, he's welcome to it.

Live steam into a drum of water…….containing some chemicals your probably no longer allowed to use, or bleach.

Worked back in the days before I realised going to sea was for fish!

Citric acid or oxcalic acid

Full fat milk rubbed into the mould & left for a few hours might also remove it . then wash in a decent bio detergent , If the overalls are with a nylon content use Dylon nylon wash whitener as ordinary hypochlorite bleaches tend to make white nylon go yellow .

Ask him if our brass inclinometer with the plaque on is still on the wall in the mess, dads stepdad worked on her in service and we donated the inclinometer to the crew in his memory. Came off the saltaro coaster that broke its back at walney

Some years ago i fitted out a steam launch for a friend of mine, shortly after we had a trip out on the Chelmer canal, coal fired upright boiler, another mate of his came along wearing white jacket & trousers, by lunchtime he was a proper sight, by end of the day looked like a hobo!

Because white was the colour you wore in a hot sweaty engine room. They dont stay white long

No problem- it’s worse than I remembered.

Does milk fix everything? Drink it before welding galvanised, lining your stomach before a skin full and now removing mould!!
