i have a nexus 350amp welder and im welding 5mm thick steel which welding wire would be best 0.8 or 1.0mm.... as im having problems with the 1.0mm sometimes any advice would be greatfull thanks...
A 350 amp welder should run 1mm without problems, although at 5mm thickness 0.8mm is adequate, a bit more detail of your problems will help us to advise you

thanks for that im getting the penitration but the welds are tall'ish so if turn up the amp it will start to burn a hole ar wide welds.... even if i speed my travel up.... i thought 0.8 would be better for what i want.
What Backpurge said, adjust voltage higher and or reduce wire speed, I use 0.9mm wire for most plate from 3mm to 12mm, if I have to do heavier plate from 12mm to 25mm then I switch to 1.2mm wire, your 350 amp MIG should not have any drama with any wire up to 1.2mm, I also use a tri mix gas which gives a hotter weld. Just my 2 cents worth.
0.8mm wire will weld great on 5mm, you can spend ages doing some great welds with 0.8, but if your generally welding 5mm and upwards i would try and go for the 1.0mm, Its a bit more to learn to get the welds as good as the 0.8, but its generally better on thicker material.
Saying that i did some super welds in my Butt weld coding using 3mm plate with 0.8mm, but had to do a few practice pieces when welding with 1mm until i got it right
See below
