Hi folks!
Looking for some advise from you all!
I'm thinking of buying a welder to help me make frame from mild steel round bar, or possibly mild steel tube. Steel bar would be around 8mm diameter, steel tube would be around 15mm diameter with a 2mm or 1.2mm wall thickness. There will likely be some mild steel flatbar or the like in there as well, probably 2 or 3mm stuff.
So the big question is, what is the best type of welder to weld these materials together? What size of welder do I need? I have done a fair bit of MMA welding as part of my apprenticeship many years ago, and I am leaning towards a MMA machine for this reason only.
The project i have in mind is a small one off job, so I want to keep costs as low as possible.
Oh yeh, one last thing. The welder will need to run off a standard single phase 230Vac 13A socket. Is this enough power for a welder to do the job mentioned above? Would I be better off buying a gas torch and brazing/silver soldering these materials?
All comments and suggestions welcome!
